Mark Madsen Taking His Song And Dance Back To Stanford

Stanford announced the addition of former Cardinal player Mark Madsen as an assistant coach on Tuesday. Madsen replaces Dave Dickey, who announced his retirement in March after serving as the program's associate head coach for the past four seasons.

Madsen earned All-American honors in the final two of his four seasons at Stanford, and helped the Cardinal advance to the 1998 Final Four. He went on to play nine seasons in the NBA and was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 2001 and 2002 championship teams.

"I'm really excited to have Mark join our staff and return to the Stanford basketball program," said Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins. "Mark's energy and enthusiasm is infectious and his experience at Stanford will provide an invaluable resource to our team. I have no doubt that our student-athletes will benefit greatly from working with Mark on a daily basis."

Energy and enthusiasm, indeed.
