Despite the restrictions put in place by his former head coach, Jarrod Uthoff says he's transferring from Wisconsin to fellow Big Ten member Iowa.

Uthoff he’ll have to pay his own way next year at Iowa and will also have to sit out the 2012-13 season per NCAA transfer rules.

“I just didn’t want money to be a factor in where I wanted to play,” Uthoff said.

Uthoff, a former Iowa Mr. Basketball, announced his intent to transfer shorts after the end of last season. The story made national headlines when news spread that Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan had banned Uthoff from transferring to a large number of schools, including all members of the Big Ten and ACC.

Wisconsin officials, including Ryan, later met with Uthoff and both sides agreed that his restricted transfer list would be limited to all Big Ten schools.

Uthoff also told The Associated Press that he hasn’t spoken to Ryan since he told him of his plans to transfer, even though Ryan had told Uthoff he’d call him once he returned from vacation. The 6-foot-8 forward redshirted in 2011-12.
