Mississippi State freshman Jacoby Davis tore the ACL in his left knee during a workout on Monday and will likely miss the entire 2012-13 season. An MRI on Tuesday confirmed the injury.
Mississippi State’s Jacoby Davis Likely Out For The Season With Torn ACL

“You always hate to see this happen,” said first-year head coach Rick Ray in a statement. “But Jacoby is a tough kid and I know he’ll bounce back from this injury.”
With Dee Bost lost to graduation, Davis was expected by many to step in and become the Mississippi State’s new starting point guard from day one. The 6’1 Charlotte product would have been attempting to fill big shoes, as Bost left as the school’s all-time leader in assists.
Davis' injury is the latest blow for Mississippi State, which also lost star Arnett Moultrie to the NBA and saw Rick Stansbury retire in March after 14 seasons as the head coach of the Bulldogs.
