A pair of former high-profile college basketball coaches are no longer looking for their next gig.
Bruce Pearl And Seth Greenberg Join ESPN’s College Basketball Team

Former Tennessee head coach Bruce Pearl and former Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg have been hired by ESPN to work as analysts during the 2012-13 season. The network announced the news in a press release on Monday.
Pearl compiled a record of 145-61 over six seasons at Tennessee, and never missed the NCAA Tournament. He was fired in March of 2011 after admitting that he had lied to NCAA investigators who were looking into possible recruiting violations committed by the Volunteer staff. Ultimately, UT was charged with 10 major NCAA violations that occurred under Pearl’s watch.
Despite the off-the-court controversy, Pearl’s upbeat personality made him a fan favorite in the college basketball world. He promoted Tennessee religiously during his six years in Knoxville, most notably showing up to a Lady Vols basketball game with a giant “T” painted on his bare chest.
“I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to bring ESPN the same sort of knowledge, passion and intensity that I tried to have as a basketball coach,” Pearl said in the release. “I’m anxious to get started and contribute to ESPN’s great college basketball coverage.”
Greenberg, who worked as an analyst at ESPN during the 2012 NCAA Tournament, was most recently the head coach at Virginia Tech. During his nine seasons in Blacksburg, the Hokies compiled an overall record of 170-123 but made just one appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He was fired on April 23.
“I am excited and honored to be joining ESPN,” Greenberg said. “I look forward to using the relationships I have developed over 35 years of coaching college basketball to bring unique insights to the ESPN viewing audience.”
In addition to these hirings, ESPN also announced that former Michigan star Jalen Rose will now be a featured analyst on “College GameDay,” and will also work as a game analyst for a series of matchups. Rose has worked for ESPN since 2009.
