Jones played an important role for the Trojans last season, as he was the primary ball-handler and scorer. He played nearly 95 percent of possible minutes, while leading the team in scoring, assists and steals. The 5’7 Jones did struggle with his shot inside the arc, making just 36 percent of his two-pointers. With Jones directing the team, USC stumbled to a 6-26 record.

This doesn’t impact immediate plans for the Trojans, as they weren’t expecting to have Jones on the roster for the upcoming season. Jones had been struggling academically and is currently ineligible.

Originally from Saginaw, Mich., Jones mentioned in his tweet that he will be “on his way home” soon.
