Guard JerShon Cobb was suspended by the Northwestern Wildcats on Friday afternoon for a violation of team policy. It was quite the surprising announcement considering Cobb was one of the up-and-coming players in the Big Ten Conference and one of Northwestern's better returning players.
Northwestern Suspends Guard JerShon Cobb For 2012-13 Season
Guard JerShon Cobb was suspended for the upcoming season by the Northwestern Wildcats for a violation of team policy.

In its release, the school noted that Cobb is still enrolled at Northwestern and will continue to be a part of the basketball program while maintaining two years of athletic eligibility. Head coach Bill Carmody didn’t elaborate on the reasons Cobb was suspended in his press release quote:
“There are standards that each student-athlete is expected to uphold. JerShon has our complete support as he works to fulfill those expectations and we look forward to having him rejoin the program in a full capacity in the future.”
Senior guard Drew Crawford is the only returning player on the team that averaged double-figures in scoring last season as the Wildcats nearly made the NCAA Tournament. With Cobb's suspension, he'll be leaned on even heavier by a young Northwestern team.
