With 23 rushing yards in the first quarter of Michigan's game against Iowa, Denard Robinson topped 1,000 rushing yards for the 2010 season.
Denard Robinson Eclipses 1,000 Yards On Season, Will Probably Rush For Like A Zillion In Total
Robinson was already almost 150 yards clear of his closest competitor in the race for the national lead in rushing yards, and has already put Michigan’s school record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a season in his rear view.
He may spend the rest of the season running down legends.
The FBS record for rushing yards in a season by a quarterback is held by Air Force’s Beau Morgan, who had 1,494 yards on the ground in 1996; the NCAA record belongs to Chris Sharpe of Division III Springfield, who had 1,941 yards in 2006.
Robinson entered today’s game on pace for 1,982 through 12 games. If he can match his production against non-conference foes while facing the meat of Michigan’s Big Ten slate, and/or pilot the Wolverines to a bowl, 2,000 yards might not be out of the question.
