A promising Tigers drive stalls out with a 10-yard penalty at the Arkansas 16-yard line. Cam Newton throws two incomplete passes, and Auburn will have to make do with a field goal. Wes Byrum boots one 43 yards, and the Tigers take the lead, 10-7, with 14:54 remaining in the second quarter.
Flurry Of Scoring Leads To 17-14 Auburn Lead Over Arkansas
Arkansas responds with a clock-eating, five-minute drive ending in a 2-yard Broderick Green TD run. The play is reviewed at the goal line, and Auburn fans begin audibly booing.
They're about to feel a whole lot better, however. With seven minutes remaining in the half, at the opposite end of the field, Mario Fannin appears to fumble just short of the goal line on a four-yard scramble. Penn Wagers calls it a touchdown. It's reviewed, and stands. Gary Danielson, Verne Lundquist, and everybody here at SBN Mobile HQ do not agree, to say nothing of Bobby Petrino. With 6:28 remaining in the half, Auburn leads, 17-14.
And Ryan Mallett is headed to the locker room with an undisclosed injury. Hoo boy, this could be fun.
