USC Crushes Cal, Spirits Of Counting Crows’ Adam Duritz

For USC fans, it’s probably good to know that even in a down year, the Trojans still have Cal to kick around.

Lane Kiffin's team all but annihilated the Golden Bears in the first half. The Trojans scored 42 points and allowed zero. They outgained Cal 372-64. They recorded 20 first downs to Cal's 3, forced two turnovers, and stopped the Bears on all five third downs they faced. And Matt Barkley equaled Mark Sanchez' school record for touchdown passes in a half.

But the Trojans may have done the most damage to the psyche of the Counting Crows’ lead singer.

Adam Duritz, former Berkeley student and noted Cal fan, sent out the following tweet.

I’m not a pessimistic guy and I really love this Cal team but I’m starting to think we are probably not going to win today. Now, see, Adam, that was probably the mood you needed to be in to remake “Big Yellow Taxi.”
