College Football Rankings: Kentucky’s Upset Should Sink South Carolina
Despite beating Alabama last week, the Gamecocks are set to tumble in the college football polls thanks to their 31-28 loss to Kentucky.
South Carolina was ranked 10th in the AP Poll and 12th in the USA Today coaches poll. Now, after losing their second game of the season, the Gamecocks will likely slot in behind undefeated teams like Oklahoma State and Missouri, and perhaps behind one-loss Arizona as well. It's even worth wondering whether pollsters will remember that South Carolina beat one of the two top-ten teams the Gamecocks and Arkansas Razorbacks both played, and whether they'll be rewarded more for that or punished for losing to an unranked team on the road.
