Denard Robinson, at this point, seems less like a mass of molecules and more like a terror from a video game. How else to explain him making box scores look like Warren Buffett bank accounts all year?
Denard Robinson Continues Heisman Campaign By Stuffing Stat Sheet Against Indiana
Robinson gutted Indiana today, throwing for 277 yards and rushing for 217 more. It’s his second day of over 490 yards of total offense this season; it also featured his second game-winning touchdown run in the final minute. For the year, Robinson has thrown for 1,008 yards and run for another 905. That’s 1,913 yards of total offense, or more than all but 11 FBS teams had entering this week. It’s insane. It’s fantastic. It’s a product of Michigan’s defense being put together with twine and Elmer’s and requiring weekly bailouts the stuff Heisman campaigns are made of.
Sure, Michigan’s played five games against teams that will struggle to get to bowl games, and that defense will probably lose a few games no matter what Robinson does. But THOSE NUMBERS, man. Denard Robinson’s almost guaranteed a trip to New York later this year. And he might leave with some hardware.
