How good is Alabama’s offense? Try better than the one that won a BCS Championship in 2009.
At Halftime, Stats Show Alabama Trampling Florida
Alabama’s averaging 8.12 yards per play against Florida at the half. That’s a better clip than Alabama produced at in any game in 2009, including the SEC Championship demolition of the Gators.
It’s not the best day by the numbers for the Crimson Tide this year — Alabama averaged more yards per play against San Jose State (8.3) and Duke (10.3) — but Florida is certainly supposed to offer more resistance than those schools.
Sadly, the Gators appear to be up against both an irresistible force and an immovable object. After a 75-yard opening drive, which included a 19-yard run on a gimmick reverse, Florida has gained just 23 yards.
On the bright side for Florida fans: CBS replayed bits of all of the Florida-Alabama SEC Championship Games at halftime, which means some of them (oh, fine, us) might remember what it’s like to beat Alabama, if only briefly.
