A UCLA drive consisting of 11 run plays and one pass is finally stymied with the first no-gain rush at the Oregon 7-yard line. The Bruins settle for a Kai Forbath field goal, and a 15-yard penalty on the ensuing kickoff return, just to give themselves another challenge.
LaMichael James is back in the game, and Rece Davis sagely notes, "I think they just aggravated him." A 27-yard run marks his return, and two plays later, Darron Thomas hits Josh Huff for a 22-yard touchdown.
Brehaut completes an 18-yard pass to convert UCLA's next 3rd-and-10, but the rushing game is bottled up again, and the Ducks get the ball back.
The next drive is a long one, where this Oregon team's concerned: Just over three minutes from the Oregon 15 to another Darron Thomas touchdown pass, this time to David Paulson.
And then, a very curious thing happen: Following a UCLA three-and-our, two incomplete passes and a negative-yardage run by LaMichael James force ... a Ducks field goal?? Does Oregon have what it takes to win big games?! WHERE IS THE KILLER INSTINCT. I TELL YOU WHAT.
Just look at Rick Neuheisel. You can tell he's about got this thing figured out.
