BCS Standings: What Would A Michigan State Loss Do To The Big Ten Bowl Picture?

Michigan State struggled in the first quarter against Northwestern, and currently trails the ‘Cats 0-10. It’s beyond premature to say they’ll lose (the nasty weather makes every play a new adventure!), but as the only undefeated team in the Big Ten, they do have the greatest potential right now to shake up the BCS standings when it comes to little matters like, say, the Rose Bowl.

↵The scrum behind the Spartans is as follows, for the moment:

  • ↵↵Iowa: 5-1 overall, 2-0 in Big Ten
  • ↵Purdue: 4-2 overall, 2-0 in Big Ten
  • ↵Wisconsin: 6-1 overall, 2-1 in Big Ten
  • ↵Ohio State: 6-1 overall, 2-1 in Big Ten
  • ↵Northwestern: 5-1 overall, 1-1 in Big Ten

↵↵Again: it’s all kinds of early to get worried about this, but with a little less than half the season remaining, the tidy Big Ten race to Pasadena still could get extremely messy.
