Brent Musburger Defends Steroids From Scurrilous Attacks By ‘Journalism Youngsters’

No one has ever accused Brent Musburger of using any performance-enhancing substance stronger than alcohol during broadcasting jobs like his current stint as the voice of ABC’s Saturday Night Football. But if somebody wants to use something stronger, that’s fine by Musburger.

Here’s the truth about steroids: They work.

Oh, but that was only the thesis for Musburger, who was speaking at the University of Montana.

The broadcaster also suggested that Lance Armstrong started using steroids as part of his cancer treatments; said we should “go find out” whether steroids are actually harmful to someone’s health; and blamed the negative conceptions of steroids on “journalism youngsters.”

And then came Musburger’s comments about his current employer, ESPN.

They want more opportunities to kind of restrict competition, so to speak. They want to become the biggest players in the universe.

So, to recap: Steroids are fine and ESPN is a monopolistic Goliath. Brent’s bosses will be glad to hear all that, we’re sure.
