College Football Rankings Week 6: BlogPoll Vs. Coaches’ Poll

A comparison study of the Week 6 BlogPoll college football rankings and those of the Coaches’ Poll finds little in the way of substantial difference:

BlogPoll Coaches Poll
1 Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama
2 Oregon Ducks Ohio State
3 Ohio St. Buckeyes Oregon
4 Boise St. Broncos Boise State
5 TCU Horned Frogs TCU
6 Oklahoma Sooners Nebraska
7 Nebraska Cornhuskers Oklahoma
8 Auburn Tigers Auburn
9 Arizona Wildcats LSU
10 Utah Utes Utah
11 LSU Tigers Arizona
12 Arkansas Razorbacks Florida
13 Miami Hurricanes Arkansas
14 Stanford Cardinal Miami (FL)
15 Michigan St. Spartans Iowa
16 Iowa Hawkeyes Michigan State
17 Florida Gators Michigan
18 Michigan Wolverines Stanford
19 South Carolina Gamecocks Wisconsin
20 Nevada Wolf Pack South Carolina
21 Oklahoma St. Cowboys Oklahoma State
22 Wisconsin Badgers Missouri
23 Missouri Tigers Nevada
24 Florida St. Seminoles Florida State
25 Air Force Falcons Northwestern

Top five: But for a disagreement over the respective placements of Ohio State and Oregon in slots 2 and 3, no disagreement.

Next five: BlogPoll places Arizona two slots higher than the Coaches’ Poll, while the coaches the same for LSU.

Creamy middle: Florida is a full five slots higher in the Coaches’ Poll than in BlogPoll. BlogPoll places Stanford four slots above the coaches’ ranking. Nevada is three slots higher in BlogPoll.

Hangers-on: Largely similar, apart from the Coaches swapping Northwestern in for the final poll slot.
