Two teams all but out of the SEC title hunt meet up in Tuscaloosa this weekend, as the 17th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs take on the 11th- ranked Alabama Crimson Tide.

    Alabama and Mississippi State have combined for zero red zone drives and three field goals, making this the game of the night if you’re into offenses that make lots of threes show up on scoreboards.

    This latest drive by the Crimson Tide relied heavily on the passing game triggered by Greg McElroy, and the Alabama signal caller has been excellent all night. He’s seven of 10 for 89 yards, and led the nine-play, 45-yard drive admirably.

    After an interception on its opening drive, Mississippi State forced a punt and went to the ground to tie up this game. The second drive took six plays to go 32 yards and get a field goal from Derek DePasquale to tie things at 3-3.

    Alabama Vs. Mississippi State: Crimson Tide Score First On Field Goal

    It doesn’t figure to be a high-scoring game in Tuscaloosa as Alabama meets Mississippi State tonight. But Alabama’s first drive may mean there is a lot of yardage.

    The Crimson Tide moved the ball effectively against Manny Diaz’s vaunted defense, racking up 59 yards on eight plays and stalling only right outside the end zone. Jeremy Shelley finished the drive with a 36-yard field goal, and Alabama leads 3-0.
