South Carolina finally finished a drive to open the second half, driving 72 yards to take a two-score lead. Marcus Lattimore carried the ball for 44 yards, including 39 on the last two plays, to give South Carolina a 22-7 lead. Perhaps as imporant, the Gamecocks took almost five minutes off the clock.
