Arkansas Vs. Mississippi State: Two Mistakes, And The First Overtime Ends Without A Score

What a heartbreaking way to lose a game. Mississippi State was driving on its first overtime possession, with Vick Ballard headed to the end zone. At the end of a tough run, Ballard decided to take a dive toward the end zone.

That’s when Jerico Nelson stepped in, popping the ball with his helmet and sending it into the end zone and out of bounds — a touchback.

Under the rules of college football, Arkansas took over at the 25-yard line, needing only a couple of runs to get the ball a bit closer for Zach Hocker’s game-winning —

He missed the game-winning field goal? Yes, he missed.

We go to the second overtime.
