For the second time on Friday, we’re seeing an undefeated team getting a run for its money. It’s halftime at Autzen Stadium, and the No. 20 Arizona Wildcats lead the Oregon Ducks, 19-14.
Oregon Vs. Arizona: Key Turnovers Give Wildcats 19-14 Halftime Lead
Arizona quarterback Nick Foles has found receiver Juron Criner for two touchdown passes, including an 85-yard strike made possible when Criner made a spectacular fake to free himself from the Oregon secondary. Foles already has 231 yards through the air. In the final seconds of the first half, the Wildcats added another three points with a chip-shot field goal from Alex Zendejas.
Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas has also thrown two touchdown passes, and running back LaMichael James has produced 73 yards on the ground, but an interception by the Thomas and a fumble by running back Kenjon Barner have been costly. Both turnovers occurred in the red zone. To boot, Arizona was gifted two points when an Oregon snap sailed wide of the punter and fell through the back of the end zone for a safety.
Arizona is set to receive the ball to begin the second half. Can the Ducks avoid mistakes and return to form to remain undefeated? Stay tuned.
