After a year spent gushing over the tempo-based attacks at Oregon and Auburn — keyed by LaMichael James and Cam Newton, dynamic runners of very different shapes and sizes — and a week or two noticing the high-powered Oklahoma State offense, it seems foolish to say any team but Wisconsin has the nation’s best offense right now. Yeah, don’t pretend that you predicted that before this season.
Over their last three games, the Badgers have scored 201 points, and considering the Badgers got to 70 before the end of the third quarter today against Northwestern, that statistic is probably even more ridiculous with a garbage-time score or two. If you need other scary averages for that stretch, Wisconsin’s scored 18.3 points per quarter in that span, and 1.22 points per minute.
Cynics might point out that Wisconsin has rolled up those numbers against Indiana, Michigan, and Northwestern, no murderers’ row of rock-ribbed defenses. To them, I say “OOOH, LOOK AT THE FIREWORKS!”
