Hawaii Bowl Shocks Sports World By Inviting Hawaii

Why they bother to announce this, we’re not quite clear, but whatever: Hawaii is bowl-eligible, and therefore playing in the 2010 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve. At 9-3, the Warriors might have snagged a higher-paying postseason date, but they get a home game and a home crowd and a pretty good opponent (Tulsa is expected to receive the second invitation). Look for a nice home win, as well -- excepting an utter collapse against Boise State to kick off November, the Warriors haven’t lost since Week 3 in a road trip to Colorado.
(A quick reader poll, though: We’re informed by a Honolulu-based newspaperman that when Hawaiians want to get away, they go to Vegas. Warrior fans, if you’re out there, let us know whether you would have preferred that bowl.)
Bowl selections will continue to roll in throughout the week, and we’ll be following them all right here. Stay tuned to this StoryStream right on through the selection show this Sunday night.
