It's been an ACCtion-packed first half of football in Blacksburg, and we apologize for leading with that atrocious pun, but it fits the play we've seen thus far so marvelously.
The Tech of the Georgian Persuasion scored on the first possession, aided by a 44-yard Embry Peeples return on the opening kickoff. Anthony Allen contributed most of the yards needed to set Josh Nesbitt up for a 1-yard touchdown dash.
VaTech took nearly five minutes off the clock with their answering drive, but were forced to punt from the GT 38. Pinned at the 1-yard line, the Jackets dug in for a long drive ... and on 3rd-and-1, Nesbitt took off down the right side for a 71-yard touchdown run.
The Hokies managed to get the offense ticking after that, leveraging a 23-yard Tyrod Taylor pass on first down to mount a four-minute touchdown drive ending with a four-yard Ryan Williams scoring run.
That marked the end of the first quarter, and things went considerably downhill from there. GT went three-and-out. Hokies drove, and Taylor was intercepted in the endzone. Jackets drove, and Nesbitt was intercepted in the endzone. Punt. Punt. Punt. Punt. Fin.
