Five pairs of ranked college football teams meet in Week 10, and the outcomes could spell doom for half their postseason hopes.
AP No. 4 TCU vs. No. 6 Utah
Most to lose: This one’s probably a push. It’s the only matchup between thus-far undefeated teams you’ll see for the rest of the season, but voters love to drop mid-major teams in precipitous fashion after losses (or even ugly wins).
No. 5 Alabama vs. No. 12 LSU
Most to lose: LSU. Alabama could theoretically recoup any lost SEC West cred with a win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl, but LSU’s only remaining ranked opponent is an Arkansas team that may very well lose today (see below).
No. 10 Stanford vs. No. 13 Arizona
Most to lose: Push. The winner here will take up the second-place spot in the Pac-10, behind rampaging a Oregon team that only the Wildcats have any remaining prayer of stopping. No. 19 Oklahoma State vs. No. 22 Baylor
Most to lose: Baylor. Even with two losses, they lead the Big 12 South in a bizarro season that’s seen all three Texas teams plant themselves firmly in the bottom three slots. After this week, the Bears’ only real hurdle left is No. 8 Oklahoma, looming in Week 12.
No. 17 Arkansas vs. No. 18 South Carolina
Most to lose: South Carolina, who could mathematically lose this game and still win the SEC East as an unranked team. And who wants to see that? (Besides everybody.)
