Week 10 is a dicey one in college football, with seemingly every Top 25 team in the BCS standings facing either a ranked opponent or a potential trap game. (All right, except for Auburn. Even with rampant off-field distractions plaguing the program this week, something tells us the Tigers will make short work of the mighty Mocs of Chattanooga.)
To make matters more dire, most games also have semi-permanent conference implications, ramifications that could see a three-loss, unranked South Carolina win the SEC East and no team with “Texas” in its name even catch a whiff of the Big 12 South title.
Five unranked teams remain in 2010. One of them will drop from the ranks following the final whistle of the TCU-Utah tilt. But what of the rest? Will Oregon sleepwalk against a tragically depleted Washington squad? Can Boise State win convincingly against a suspiciously excellent-looking Hawaii outfit? And, fine, what happens if Auburn pulls a Virginia Tech and falls to Chattanooga?
