Colorado Collapses, Allows 35 Fourth-Quarter Points To Kansas

Entering the fourth quarter against Kansas, Colorado had a 38-17 lead and had held the Jayhawks in check all day. It didn’t last.

↵

Buoyed by strong passing from Quinn Mecham and some clutch runs by James Sims, the Jayhawks scored 35 unanswered points and stormed back on the Buffaloes in Lawrence. In the last 25 minutes of the game, Kansas had 296 yards on 37 plays, and scored 42 points, and the explosion helped the Jayhawks notch their first Big 12 win of the year. In four previous games against conference opponents, Kansas had 40 points combined.

↵In case you were wondering, Colorado coach Dan Hawkins, you should indeed update your resume. And if you ever want to coach football again, you might want to omit “Head coach, Colorado.”
