Another Nate Costa Season Ended By Yet Another Knee Injury

Via the somber alert system of Twitter, we learn that backup Oregon quarterback Nate Costa will require knee surgery to repair an injury sustained in Saturday's game against Washington, which will knock him out for the rest of the season and end his playing time in college football on a dismally familiar note.

If it seems like you've heard this story before, it's because this is Costa's fourth horrific knee injury in his short gridiron career. He was injured during a tackle following a botched hold on a field goal attempt, was carted off the field, and did not return. True freshman Bryan Bennet takes over backup duties.

Over at SB Nation's Addicted To Quack, an Oregon community honors a beloved captain:

I realize this reads like a eulogy. It’s not supposed to. Nate Costa was one of the truest and most upstanding Ducks we will ever see. You cannot appreciate a player and person like Nate Costa enough, and I have a pipe dream hope that after graduation Nate could think about being an assistant on Chip Kelly’s staff. He is too smart to not hold on to. It is simply not fair that these things have to happen to good guys in college football. There are so many players who really do things the wrong way. Nate Costa was one guy who did things the right way.
