The Las Vegas Bowl Takes A Break From BYU, Selects Utah

The BYU Cougars have been a mainstay in the Las Vegas Bowl, but this year, with BYU on the down-swing, the Utah Utes are heading to lovely Las Vegas. The Utes finished the year at 10-2, runner-up in the Mountain West Conference.

With the Pac-10 lacking in bowl-eligible teams, the second slot in the Las Vegas Bowl is up for grabs. Bowl executives are lobbying publicly for Boise State or Nevada, but may have to settle on a MAC team. Ohio and Temple have both been floated as possible replacements for the missing Pac-10 tie-in should Las Vegas officials fail to broker a deal to bring in either of the top-two WAC teams.

The Las Vegas Bowl takes place on Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Bowl selections will continue to roll in throughout the week, and we’ll be following them all right here. Stay tuned to this StoryStream right on through the selection show this Sunday night.
