VIDEO: Lee Corso Tribute From College Football Awards Ceremony

College football broadcasting legend Lee Corso was honored during ESPN’s College Football Awards Show on Thursday night, receiving the NCFAA’s Contributions To College Football Award. In an emotional tribute video, introduced by Tom Jackson, former players and coaches relayed kind words of Corso in between clips of some of the famed College Gameday announcer’s greatest hits.

The tribute was touching, but it was Corso’s speech that brought tears to the eyes of many in the house. Corso, unable to fight back his own tears at times, thanked the College Gameday crew for all their help during his time with the show. The most pointed moment came as he thanked each of them for assisting him during the last two years as he recovered from a stroke while continuing to work on the set of Gameday.

As Corso was honored, it began to feel like one final send-off from ESPN. The emotional tribute, and Corso’s acceptance speech, lead one to wonder if the Gameday great will soon be stepping away from the show, moving-on to retirement.
