The 2010 college football postseason kicks off tomorrow, and it's time to place all your money set aside for Christmas shopping on ridiculous, half-assed bowl games played by largely inept football teams. Degenerate gamblers, start your engines. Now playing: Northern Illinois vs. Fresno State in the Humanitarian Bowl.
The line: Huskies by 3.5, which we frankly think might be a little stingy given their strong season (despite bizarro collapse in the MAC championship game).
Notable Northern Illinois units: The 7th-ranked rushing offense in the nation, led by the No. 20 individual rusher, Chad Spann. Believe it or not, this MAC team also boasts the country's 13th-ranked scoring offense, 14th in sacks allowed, which probably explains their 105th-ranked punting unit.
Notable Fresno State units: This is where we really might find a margin of victory. The Huskies rank 17th nationally in turnover margin. The Bulldogs? 111th. Another interesting matchup: Fresno State's 6th in sacks, so watch and see how close they can get to NIU's pocket.
The pick: Northern Illinois, even absent a head coach, should get a three-point spot to start just thanks to the weather they'll probably play in.
