Poinsettia Bowl, Navy Vs. San Diego State: Aztecs Strike First, Lead 14-0

We're underway in a reasonably de-sogged Qualcomm Stadium for the 2010 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, and despite constant nattering about Navy being better suited to playing on such a waterlogged field, the Mids are about to find themselves in an early hole.

Two fruitless drives are traded before the Aztecs get some action going, and they get it going in a hurry: Ronnie Hillman runs up the middle for seven yards on first down; Ryan Lindley hits Vincent Brown down the right side for 22 more, and two plays later, Hillman gets free again, running left for a 22-yard touchdown.

Navy's just looking all kinds of out of their depth here, moving in fits and starts as they did in the Army-Navy game. A 22-yard Ricky Dobbs run is followed up by absolutely nothing, and the Mids punt with just over seven minutes remaining in the quarter. Hillman and Lindley need less than three minutes to set the team up for a 53-yard touchdown bomb to Brown. With 4:08 remaining in the first quarter, San Diego State leads Navy, 14-0.
