Hawaii Bowl, Hawaii Vs. Tulsa: Warriors Blown Out On Home Turf, 62-35

The 2010 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl has not been kind tonight to its hosts, the hometown Hawaii Warriors. (And historically, that actually seems to be par for the course: Since its inception, the Warriors have attained only a 3-3 record in this bowl game.)

We and everyone we know picked Hawaii to win this one in a drawn-out shootout, and they might have, too, but for six (really, six) turnovers, which negated the monstrous advantage in total yards they held over Tulsa and then some. Warriors starting quarterback Bryant Moniz, who entered this game leading the country in total offense, still reeled off 411 yards through the air, but four of his many, many passes ended in interceptions. Moniz was also sidelined at one point after getting his bell rung in the pocket, but returned to finish out the 2010 campaign with his team.

Two of Moniz's picks, it should be noted, were brought down by the same Tulsa linebacker: the impeccably-named Curnelius Arnick. In other Golden Hurricane highlight reel news, Friday night's only postseason contest also saw hybrid threat Damaris Johnson break the NCAA's career all-purpose yards record.

Final score in Honolulu: Tulsa 62, Hawaii 35. Congratulations to the Golden Hurricane, and so long to the Warriors' hard-won No. 24 ranking when the postseason standings are tallied.
