Now that we’ve made it to the Insight Bowl, we’re getting into the bowl games actually stocked with such draft talent that you won’t even need to squint. Both the Iowa Hawkeyes and Missouri Tigers have multiple NFL Draft-worthy players, though it’s not clear yet whether all will be going pro. Sounds like we need some more … insight.
2011 NFL Draft Prospects: Adrian Clayborn, Blaine Gabbert, Tyler Sash Among Insight Bowl Studs
Hawkeyes DE Adrian Clayborn is the obvious draw here and the best player bowl season has showcased thus far. He’ll be a first-round pick, and possibly even top ten. Monstrous against both the run and pass, the six-foot-three, 282-pound converted linebacker will need to gain NFL quickness, but his status as the Hawks’ permanent captain will further entice many a pro scout.
Junior Mizzou quarterback Blaine Gabbert could wind up a first-rounder if he plays well against Clayborn and company (and decides to actually, like, enter the draft), according to Mocking The Draft. Even if he doesn’t rise that high, Gabbert could still be one of the first five quarterbacks taken in 2011.
Other players to keep an eye on include Mackey Award-winning Missouri tight end Michael Egnew, stout Iowa safety Tyler Sash, tweener Iowa DL Christian Ballard, and Iowa CB Shaun Prater.
The 2010 Insight Bowl kicks off at 10 p.m. EST, Tuesday, December 28. The game will be televised on ESPN. For a complete list of bowls, browse our 2010 college football postseason schedule.
