The 2010 college football postseason heads to San Diego on Thursday, and it’s time to place all your money set aside for Christmas shopping on ridiculous, half-assed bowl games played by largely inept football teams. Degenerate gamblers, start your engines. Nebraska and Washington cap a big day of college football on Dec. 30 in the Holiday Bowl.
College Bowl Picks, Holiday Bowl: No. 18 Nebraska Vs. Washington
The line: Nebraska by just about two touchdowns (13-14 depending on where you look).
Notable Washington units: We’ll go with the Huskies running game. The Huskies 46th ranked rushing offense is the best unit they have. Everything else is ranked below average this year.
Notable Nebraska units: The Cornhuskers vaunted Blackshirts, nickname for the Nebraska defense, are back. Nebraska is 8th in the nation in points against in 2010. Nebraska also brings a potent rushing attack, ranked 9th in the country.
The pick: We’ve seen this game before. Though Washington will be more motivated and shouldn’t get a 4-20 performance from Jake Locker, Nebraska is simply too good not to win this game. A 35-point win in September makes the two touchdown spread seem low, as well. We’ll take Nebraska in a romp.
The 2010 Holiday Bowl kicks off at 10 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on ESPN. Browse our 2010 college football postseason schedule for a complete list of bowls.
