A sleepy first quarter in the 2010 Meineke Car Care Bowl wraps up with the eensiest bit of action as the period ends. Read on for the adventure of the first game of Friday!
Clemson edges down the field on a series of shortish Kyle Parker passes, breaching South Florida territory, but Chandler Catanzaro misses a 46-yard field goal attempt. The Bulls graciously cede the Tigers another try, as B.J. Daniels' second play of the game is intercepted, and this time Catanzaro's kick sails true. 3-0 Clemson.
A fumble on first down enables another USF three-and-out, but they get the ball back after a brief Tajh Boyd foray goes nowhere for the Tigers. Daniels connects with Lindsey Lamar for a 23-yard gain on first down, and a 15-yard Clemson penalty three plays later helps setup Daniels' first touchdown pass of the day, a 25-yard lob to Demetris Murray. At the end of the first quarter, USF leads Clemson, 7-3.
