Sun Bowl Gets Fine Layer Of Snow, Dooms Miami Backsides

That is the Sun Bowl’s playing surface earlier this morning in El Paso, and it looks a lot like the practice field Notre Dame left back in South Bend, not the warm, sun-baked turf of the Sun Bowl. Overnight snowfall had the Notre Dame team managers clearing snow with tables, chairs, and rakes before stadium officials brought in actual machinery to clean the snow off the field. El Paso isn’t exactly tropical in December, as it has an average temperature of 44 degrees and does get a fair amount of snow.

The timing works fine for Notre Dame, who’s more than used to cold temperatures. The Fighting Irish brought their own heaters, a bit of planning Miami did not include in their logistical gameplanning. Meanwhile the Hurricanes will be sitting on cold aluminum benches, and will be unable to wander across the Mexican border for cheap Chinese spaceheaters due to safety concerns. The real victim of the sudden snowstorm: the tender unchapped buttocks of the Hurricanes.
