The last play of the first quarter of the 2010 Meineke Car Care Bowl turns out to be a 44-yard Kyle Parker interception, which is why the third play of the second quarter will be a 27-yard USF field goal off the foot of Maikon Bonani. USF 10, Clemson 3.
Clemson reels off another remarkably efficient three-and-out, and USF regains the ball on their own 36-yard line. B.J. Daniels is getting time and open receivers aplenty, and completes passes of 19, 12, and finally 15 yards on a four-minute drive, with that 15-yarder landing in Dontavia Bogan's hands for a touchdown. USF 17, Clemson 3.
The Tigers do manage some points on their next possession thanks to the fleet feet of Jamie Harper, but even he can only get them within kicking range. Chandler Catanzaro knocks a 44-yarder through, moving the scoreboard to USF 17, Clemson 6.
He only catches one pass this whole drive, but we're going to mention Stephen Bravo-Brown's name here because it's a) the first pass caught, and b) an amazing name. USF's drive is aborted by a fumble, and Clemson takes over near midfield with 1:20 remaining in the half. 50 seconds later, they have a Harper in the endzone and their first touchdown of the game. At the half, the score is USF 17, Clemson 13.
