The Liberty Bowl continues to be a matchup of short men with large quad muscles. After a slow, grinding drive, UGA managed to put another field goal on the board and currently leads UCF 6-3. This would be a fine score in an exciting soccer game, and not a particularly entertaining one in a college football bowl game.
Liberty Bowl, Georgia Vs. UCF: Field Goal Deathmatch In Memphis
Credit goes to the defenses, but most especially to UCF’s defense, an underrated unit that has kept everything in front of them, forced Aaron Murray out of the pocket, and has generally disrupted Georgia and turned them into a one-dimensional offense.
That one dimension, however, is still pretty intimidating going into the fourth quarter. Aaron Murray and AJ Green are still out there, and it is very hard to ignore the feeling that they will at one point hook up for the crippling pass completion leading to a touchdown or field goal. You might think UGA would object to settling for a field goal in the fourth quarter, but if so you haven’t watched this Georgia team. You don’t go 6-6 on accident, and as ugly as it may be a 9-6 win would be pretty enough in the eyes of a team that has blown games it could have won all year long.
