Oregon Vs. Oregon State: LaMichael James’ Touchdown Extends No. 1 Ducks’ Lead

The top-ranked Oregon Ducks seem intent on atoning for a series of early gaffes. Thanks to a foiled Oregon State fake field goal and a robust running game, Oregon has improved its second-quarter lead to 16-7.

On a 4th-and-6 situation in Oregon territory, the Beavers elected to send out the field goal for a 52-yard try. However, kicker Johnny Hekker pulled back and attempted an unsuccessful fake that resulted in Oregon State’s third turnover of the game, an interception.

After receiving possession, Oregon immediately began to assert itself through its ground game. Running backs LaMichael James, Josh Huff, and Kenjon Barner each ran for rushes of more than 15 yards, and James ended the drive with a touchdown. The Ducks now have 129 total rushing yards, averaging 8.1 yards per carry.

The Badgers were forced to punt away the ball on the ensuing possession, and Oregon has reclaimed the ball in their own territory with just over four minutes remaining in the first half.
