VIDEO: Auburn Hits Hail Mary To End First Half Of SEC Championship Game

Auburn had just given up a touchdown to South Carolina, and seen a 21-7 SEC Championship Game lead shrink to 21-14. Darvin Adams had been up and down in the first half, making a long reception while wide open on the game's first play and getting free for a 54-yard touchdown catch later, but dropping a pair of passes that could have extended a drive.

↵Then Cam Newton threw up a Hail Mary, and in one play, both Auburn’s and Adams’ fortunes changed.

↵

↵Adams stayed with Newton’s Hail Mary after it was tipped, and snagged in off the tip by reaching over South Carolina’s Stephon Gilmore to pluck it out of the air. The touchdown gave the Tigers a healthy two-touchdown lead heading into halftime, at 28-14, and gave Adams a huge first half, with 217 yards and two touchdowns.

↵It’s plays like these that the “fated” teams always seem to make. And if Auburn wins this SEC Championship Game and earns the right to head to Glendale for the BCS National Championship Game, count on this play being replayed a few thousand times.
