Rose Bowl: Wisconsin, TCU Meet In Pasadena

This year’s Rose Bowl will mix a bit of old tradition with a bit of new tradition.

Wisconsin and TCU, both ranked in the top five of the final BCS rankings, will meet on January 1 at 5 p.m. in Pasadena to decide who wins the 2010 Rose Bowl.

For Wisconsin, it’s a return to the promised land for every Big Ten team for the first time since 2000. For TCU, it’s a automatic BCS bowl berth guaranteed by the BCS, and a Rose Bowl berth garnered by virtue of a selection quirk that lands the year’s best mid-major in Pasadena.

The game shapes up to be a matchup of strength on strength: Wisconsin’s rushing offense has powered a team that ranks fourth in the country in scoring, but TCU’s got the best scoring defense in the nation. (And TCU ranks fourth in the country in scoring, too.)

Bowl selections will continue to roll in all night, and we’ll be following them all right here. Stay tuned to this StoryStream through the selection show this Sunday night, browse our complete college football 2010 postseason schedule, and connect with Wisconsin and TCU fans at SB Nation’s Bucky’s 5th Quarter and Mountain West Connection.
