Holiday Bowl: Nebraska, Washington Will Meet Again

Who’s ready for a rematch? The Holiday Bowl will provide just that, when the Washington Huskies take-on the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the second time this season. On Sept. 23, Nebraska stormed into Husky Stadium, leaving the Huskies in the dust en route to a 56-21 victory.

Washington quarterback Jake Locker saw his Heisman hopes, and his draft stock, go by the wayside at the hands of Nebraska in Seattle. The senior finished that fateful day in Seattle completing just 4 passes for 71 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The Huskies are streaking towards the Holiday Bowl, winning their last three games to become bowl-eligible.

Nebraska finished the season with a loss in the Big 12 Championship game, falling to Oklahoma, 23-20. In a sign of the love between the Big 12 and the departing Cornhuskers, Nebraska was passed-up by the Insight Bowl and Alamo Bowl, finally landing in San Diego for the Holiday Bowl. Nebraska is led by freshman quarterback Taylor Martinez, who rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns while passing for 150 yards and one touchdown against the Huskies on Sept. 23.

The Huskies and Cornhuskers square-off for the second time this season in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30.
