Dave Wannstedt's press conference to discuss his resignation didn't go quite as well as Urban Meyer's did, in large part because Wannstedt pretty clearly isn't the one who decided he should resign. Gathering what looks like his entire Pittsburgh Panthers team at the podium, an emotional Wannstedt delivers a very short message: "I appreciate the opportunity that this university gave me to come here to win games and, most importantly, to try to make a difference in these young men's lives."

↵He then motions the squad out of the media room, even as several larger players have just finished settling in. A few attendees applaud as the herd slowly files out, ensuring the entrance and exit both wound up longer than the press conference itself.
↵And maybe that’s the heart of it: “Look at all these young men to whom I have provided direction. Without my guidance, they will wander into and out of your media room en masse, and it will take a very long time to get them to leave it, because there are so many of them.”
