2011 Senior Bowl Final Score: South Tops North 24-10 In NFL Draft Tune-Up

The 2011 Senior Bowl is over, and the final score belies how one-sided it really was.

The South scored a 24-10 victory over the North with a balanced attack, thanks to two passing touchdowns from Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder and 126 yards on the ground from its runners. The South’s defense also stifled the North offense, allowing 18 yards and zero points in the first half and a net zero rushing yards for the game.

The bright spot of the South’s day was its second half passing game, keyed by Jake Locker and Ricky Stanzi. Locker, who struggled mightily in the first quarter as the North’s starter, completing just one of three passes, recovered to have a nice day: the Washington signal caller completed seven of 10 passes for 98 yards.

Stanzi threw for 87 yards, completing seven of 12 throws.

Louisville’s Bilal Powell led a deep South rushing attack, tallying 50 yards on 10 carries. Miami receiver Loenard Hankerson led all players in yards from scrimmage, hauling in five passes for 99 yards and the game’s first touchdown.

TCU’s Jeremy Kerley caught Ponder’s second touchdown pass, a 23-yard strike in the fourth quarter.
