PHOTO: Virginia Tech Wears Pumpkin Helmets For Orange Bowl

No, you didn’t miss the Cincinnati Bengals being relegated to NCAA football and getting invited to the Orange Bowl. Virginia Tech apparently took the name of the bowl too seriously and has taken the field in helmets that are, well, very orange.

↵Yes, Virginia Tech has decided to take the field with headgear that would fit in at any construction project or chain-gang working site. The helmets are not so much orange as viciously orange.

↵The change was actually announced a couple of weeks ago, but most college football fans likely missed it, given that no one was really paying attention to Virginia Tech or the Orange Bowl at the time. Now, the helmets on are on display for a country already eager to make fun of a Virginia Tech team that got into the BCS despite losing to James Madison.

↵Perhaps this is a brilliant ruse meant to stun the college-football loving public and make them forget about the first two weeks of the season. If so, there had to be a better, less painful way.
