VIDEO: Tyrod Taylor’s Spinning, Sideline Touchdown Throw In The Orange Bowl

Virginia Tech Hokies QB Tyrod Taylor has disappointed some who'd hoped he would become the second coming of Michael Vick, though Taylor is an outstanding player in his own right, and a more balanced quarterback and polished passer than Vick ever was. But he's still capable of a Vick-esque moment from time to time, like the ridiculous, whirling touchdown he just pulled off against the Stanford Cardinal in the Orange Bowl:

That scramble and completion gave the Hokies the lead over Stanford. That’s heralded Stanford Cardinal LB Owen Marecic in pursuit, and Taylor simply hops out of his grasp like the world’s most graceful [whatever a Hokie is].

Virginia Tech WR David Wilson made a great sideline catch, too -- without that diving toe-tapper, it’s nothing but a creative incompletion. Jon Gruden declares Taylor “Starship Five,” but the ACC Player of the Year lived up to his actual nickname on this play: “T-Mobile.”
