Duke’s beatdown at St. John’s hands on the basketball court made this weekend a bad one for the ACC and a good one for the Big East when it came to games that were actually played in the real world. But in the paperwork world of recruiting, it’s the ACC winning at the Big East’s expense.
National Signing Day: ACC Classes Improve As Josue Matias Picks Florida State, Bryant Dubose Chooses Miami
First, Florida State improved its fantastic recruiting class by getting New Jersey offensive lineman Josue Matias to switch his commitment from Rutgers. Seminoles fans will be happy with this pickup: our Tomahawk Nation notes that Matias drew great praise from a longtime FSU observer:
This Matias kid, who has flipped to FSU, is something else physically. Saw him on his visit in December. Looks like an NFL lineman already. Can’t tell you about his footwork, technique or anything else ... but Matias will be most impressive looking OL FSU has had in long time. But Florida State’s in-state and in-conference rival got a big commitment on the weekend, too. Miami landed Florida defensive end Bryant Dubose, who had been committed to Louisville, adding to a recruiting class that has gotten better in a hurry as new coach Al Golden makes up ground lost with the firing of Randy Shannon.
