Alabama Football Recruiting Restocking Crimson Tide’s Cupboard With Strong Class

Alabama’s Crimson Tide ebbed a bit in 2010. After winning the 2009 national championship, their title defense got snagged on a rugged SEC season. But with Nick Saban at the helm and most of his staff intact, Alabama’s football recruiting is as strong as ever, and that crew has assembled a recruiting class that should have fans yelling “Rammer Jammer” for years.

The Crimson Tide are currently ranked first by Rivals for their 2011 recruiting efforts, and the 21-person class could get even better this week. Alabama is in the mix for a number of the top 10 remaining uncommitted recruits, and it would not be a stunner for Jadeveon Clowney, Cyrus Kouandjio, or Isaiah Crowell to toss on a script A hat on National Signing Day.

Looking at the commits Alabama already has, it’s tough not to be impressed with both variety and depth.

DB Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix, Orlando, FL.

RB Demetrius Hart, Orlando, FL. Hart and Clinton-Dix are both five-star recruits and were high school teammates; scoring them as a package deal gives Alabama playmakers at running back and safety, and reaffirms that Alabama has pipelines everywhere.

DE Quinton Dial, Scooba, MS.

DT Jesse Williams, Yuma, AZ. Dial and Williams are junior college players who should be able to step in and ably provide some of the pass rush the departing Marcell Dareus did.

WR Bradley Sylve, Port Sulphur, LA.

DE Xzavier Dickson, Griffin, GA.

The Crimson Tide could solidify this class as a clear-cut national number one by wooing any one of Clowney, Kouandjio, or Crowell to Tuscaloosa. Bringing two or three in would make the Alabama recruiting class number one with a bullet.
