GoDaddy.com Bowl, Miami (Ohio) Vs. Middle Tennessee State: Late Scores In First Quarter Tie Game

Hey, check it out, it's the 2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl, the country's only surviving college football postseason contest named after a website! (Mourn ya 'til we join ya, chronic pizza shortages bowl.) In a fitting opening quarter for a bowl featuring a team that lost to Memphis and North Texas, it's taking a while to get going.

Three go-nowhere, do-nothing possessions open play and eat more than half the first quarter; by the time Middle Tennessee sets up at their own 11-yard line for what will be the game's inaugural score, seven minutes remain in the period. Dwight Dasher and Phillip Tanner dink-and-dunk the team down the field in just over two minutes, and score thanks to two big plays at the series' conclusion: A 27-yard pass from Dasher to T.L. Edwards, and an 18-yard run by Tanner for the touchdown. MTSU leads, 7-0.

Undaunted, Miami takes just two minutes and four plays to answer, with a 70-yard pass from wee freshman quarterback Austin Boucher to Armand Robinson setting up a three-yard scoring scramble by Thomas Merriweather. Tie game, 7-7.
