Aubie The Tiger And The Angry Inch (Of Snow)

Snow is something you expect to cause problems for a game such as the Pinstripe Bowl. Not those played in Arizona. Yet on the eve of the National Championship game between Oregon and Auburn, snow might indeed have an effect on at least one fanbase.

Alabama is expecting snowfall on Monday and Auburn has already canceled classes in preparation for the inch-or-so of precipitation expected (cue indignant response by Syracuse, Michigan and Minnesota fans). Auburn University also canceled all local viewing parties and other events planned for the BCS championship game. (cue further indignant response by Syracuse, Michigan and Minnesota fans).

The weather is also having an affect on something much more important to Tiger fans hoping to get on their way to the title game...airports.

Hundreds of flights were canceled Sunday at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, causing massive delays for Alabama airports as well. About 3,000 Auburn fans were able to get out already to Arizona by leaving on Saturday, but for those flying this evening or tomorrow morning, foam fingers remains crossed. A bunch of charted flights remain ready to leave Monday morning, though anyone traveling via commercial airlines might be in big trouble.

As Chris Vernon puts it, let us pity whoever has to be the one to tell Auburn fans their flight has been canceled tomorrow. Pray for them and their immediate family.
